Italy: a loss of 1.8 billion euros in the absence of American tourists

The Italian farmers union said that the absence of American tourists in the summer season due to the closure of the European borders as a result of the Corona pandemic, will cause a loss of 1.8 billion euros for the Italian economy.

According to central bank data, the Americans’ reservations reached 12.4 million nights in the third quarter of last year.

The union explained that this loss is added to that caused by the absence of Russian tourists, especially with the continued weak movement from Germany and northern European countries despite the reopening of the internal borders of the European Union.

According to the union, the country’s domestic tourism also declined by 13% during the current summer season.
